Today I will be reviewing the HANYUL Optimizing Serum which I've bought during my Ewha Summer Studies trip last year!! I am still thinking if I should post my beauty haul that I've gotten from my Summer Studies trip since it's been so long since I've came back from Korea already.. >_< Let me know if you guys would still like to see what I've gotten during my entire month in Seoul through email or in the comment box below!!
But for now, let's get started with the review :)
First and foremost, the HANYUL Optimizing Serum works like a First Treatment Essence which is the first product you apply on your skin straight after cleansing (before toner). It is similar to the Innisfree Soybean Energy Essence which I've previously reviewed about but much more expensive as HANYUL is one of the high end brands in Korea and it is not available in Singapore as well.
However, with this serum, I don't apply it with the cotton pads.
Here is how I apply the serum onto my face:
1) Rub your hands several times together to warm up your palms so sad to enhance the absorption rate of the product later on.
2) Pump about 2-3 pumps of the serum onto your palm and spread it gently across your palm
3) Place your palm onto your face section by section. I normally start off with my forehead and chin then moving onto my cheeks.
4) Hold your palm there for about 3 seconds each time and repeat step 3 until you feel that all the serum has been fully absorbed :)
I've tried applying this serum in circular motions as well but it does not get absorbed into the skin as well as with this application method so do try this method out and see if it helps for you :))
This method of application not only helps in the absorption of the serum, it also prevents over exertion of skin from happening. :)
The texture of the serum is really light and it has a slight pleasant woody smell in it as well. So far, I've only encountered such fragrance in higher end skincare products so the smell gives me a very luxurious feeling.
The serum gets absorbed really quickly and doesn't leave any sort of sticky feeling behind which is a major thumbs up for me (Y)
Overall, after using this serum for about a month, my skin has definitely become smoother, more supple and slightly more radiant. ^_^
I definitely would highly recommend it in terms of the results that it delivers, but if you're on a tighter budget, you may wanna consider the Innisfree Soybean Energy Essence instead as both are of the FTE category but the Innisfree one is cheaper and contains more product in a bottle compared to the HANYUL Optimizing Serum. :)
Have you tried this serum before? Let me know what are your thoughts on it if you've tried haha
In the meantime, take care!! ^_^
xoxo, Luna
I tried a small sample and really liked it. I wonder if I should use it after my bha, since that is pH depedent.

ReplyDeleteHello, I'm really interested in trying this product and planning to make my purchase in South Korea this December. Do you know if it suits for oily and acne-prone skin as I tend to get break out easily. Thanks
ReplyDeleteHello there! :) I have oily combination and acne-prone skin as well but if you tend to break out easily, I would personally recommend you to start out with the Innisfree Soybean Energy Essence first before moving onto the HANYUL one because back when I was breaking out pretty badly, I was really scared to try out different products but the Innisfree Soybean Energy Essence managed to saved my face and calmed the acne rage and repercussions pretty well. In addition, I also feel that HANYUL is a little stronger than the Innisfree one and it leans towards the anti-aging skincare side more compared to the Innisfree one which was why I didn't start off with it.
DeleteOnce the break outs are stabilized, you can move onto using the HANYUL Optimizing Serum and enjoy the plumpness and smoothness that it can give to the skin fully. :) Do note that HANYUL is not available in Singapore so you can still purchase it first when you're in Korea and try it out after your break outs frequency has decreased and stabilized. :) I hope this will be helpful for you and enjoy your time in Korea in December! ^_^
