Hey ladies, today I will be sharing with you guys an awesome Skincare Makeup brand which I've come across and that is Jane Iredale!
Why is Jane Iredale called the Skincare Makeup?
It is because their products are made in such a way that it nurtures the skin instead of irritating the skin! In addition, 6 of their products bears The Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation too!
So what does this Seal of Recommendation refers to? It is a criteria for effective UV protection that has been around for more than 30 years. Products are evaluated by the Foundation's Photobiology Committee which comprises of leading US dermatologists whose expertise are on how the sun interacts with the skin.
Hence, long story short, Jane Iredale is committed to not only developing good quality products but also to the overall skin health which includes skin cancer prevention. Therefore, you can rest assured that the UV protection that these certified products provide are of very good quality and effectiveness. :)
I was very excited when I received this Starter Kit in the shade Medium Light from Jane Iredale to try out all the skin goodness that they have to installed in their products. ^_^
I have been testing these products for about a month now to make sure that my verdict on the products which I will be introducing to you in this review will be final. :)
This Starter Kit will be great for anybody who travels very often or always in the rush during morning hours as you can makeup on-the-go with this kit ^_^ Not to mention, the travel case that it comes with is very sturdy and pretty too! :)
Let's get started with the makeup :)
First Step: Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener :)
This primer gives a luminizing effect by brightening and hydrating the skin at the same time which helps to prep the skin for the foundation which is to come later on, ensuring easy application and making the makeup last longer as well. :)
This primer is very lightweight and easy to spread as compared to some other face primers which I've used before and it comes with a light scent which is not overpowering and that is a major plus for me :)
The Starter Kit also comes with a mini powder brush for the application of the powders that the kit comprises of. The bristles of the brush is very soft which I major adore <3
Next step: Foundation
You can choose whether you want to go for the PurePressed Base SPF 20 Mineral Foundation and/or the Amazing Base SPF 20 Loose Mineral Powder :) My shades for both foundations are in Warm Sienna.
I will touch on the PurePressed Base first :)
The PurePressed Base SPF 20 Mineral Foundation is the first pressed mineral foundation, powder, concealer and sunscreen ALL-IN-ONE in the market!! Wowww man seriously!
It promises longevity and highly pigmented coverage with a semi-matte finish and bears The Skin Cancer Foundation's Seal of Recommendation as an effective UV sunscreen. :)
During my usage of this product, I realised that this mineral foundation is extremely lightweight and does not cake up even after a long, humid day out. The shade of the foundation matches my skin tone very well and it looks just like my skin but BETTER after application! haha
However, I would have to say that the coverage of this foundation is insufficient for my acne scars and hence I will always top it up with the Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder Foundation as a concealer after applying the PurePressed.
The PurePressed contains no talc, oil, FD&C dyes, paragons, synthetic preservatives and fragrance in it and it is non-comedogenic :) It also contains extracts of sea minerals which helps to soothe and nourish the skin and at the same time providing hydration to the skin!!
Most importantly, it contains Minerals such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide which are naturally anti-inflammatory which helps to calm down inflammation from acne!! :) A major plus from me and this is also precisely why I like to apply the PurePressed overall my face versus the Amazing Base which I will be touching on in a bit :)
Next is the Amazing Base SPF 20 Loose Mineral Powder. The Amazing Base provides a much higher coverage than the PurePressed foundation which makes it ideal for covering brown spots, redness, eczema, rosacea and acne. Like the PurePressed, it is also a multi-tasker where by it serves as a foundation, powder, concealer and sunscreen all-in-one and it also bears The Skin Cancer Foundation's Seal of Recommendation as an effective UV sunscreen.
I personally feel that the Amazing Base loose powder is slightly heavier on the skin and provides a much higher coverage as compared to the PurePressed and that is why I use it as a concealer instead of a foundation. :)

However, the only con of the Amazing Base is that the shade is darker than the PurePressed which is also one of the reasons why I don't use it all over my face because it makes my face look really orange. I'm really not sure why the shade differs so much between the two even though they are both Warm Sienna so you may wanna take note of this if you prefer using Amazing Base as your base makeup for its high coverage. >_<
Finally the last step is fixing your makeup with the POMMISST Hydration Spray :)
I must tell you, this hydration spray is seriously an unexpected bomb of the lot!
When I was first introduced to Jane Iredale's product at a media event, I was very convinced that I will like the Amazing Base a lot but turns out that I prefer the PurePressed more for my foundation and what impresses me even more is this POMMISST Hydration Spray hahaha
It contains natural and certified organic pomegranate extract which helps to condition and protect the skin as well as plumping (not in terms of literally enlarging your facial surface) the skin to make the whole look more supple and healthy looking! :) Most importantly, it sets the whole makeup suuuuuuuuuuper well!! ^_^
It is seriously the best makeup spray I've ever come across so far and far exceeds the performance of the extremely well known Urban Decay makeup sprays!! It gives a slight luminous and healthy glow and for the entire day my makeup does not budge and cake up with the use of the POMMISST! Seriously da best!! This is a must try product! You don't try you won't know the goodness of it just like I did seriously!
This is how I look with full makeup on using all the products from this kit plus some eye makeup hehe :) Super natural looking huh (skin wise)!! haha <3
And what's even more amazing is that even after a full day out (at least around 8 hours), my makeup is still looking good as you can see from the above picture (without any touch ups at all haha. I don't like to bring makeup out with me :P) apart from my chin area acne scars where the coverage has decreased a little because I have a bad habit of touching my chin >_<.
To summarize, here is the application flow of the Starter Kit:
1) Start with Smooth Affair primer to nourish and refine the skin.
2) Apply one of the skin-loving foundations with the Mini Powder Brush
3) Finish with a nourishing spritz of POMMISST
4) Add a swipe of mascara and/or eyeliner or a touch of bronzer to complete the entire look
