Day #03 in Seoul :) It's a FOOD day totally hahaha
The route we have to walk every morning to class!
Ewha University really has a very beautiful campus!! <3
Our first Korean Ceramics class starts today! :) It was pretty fun as we got to throw clays, wedge and etc stuff hahaha
After class we went to Alchon for lunch!
Alchon was highly recommended by our PEACE buddies because of its affordable price and delicious food (Y)!! Their food ranges from 3,500KRW to 5000KRW (Around SGD4 to SGD7!) but of course the most important point is it is TASTY!! ^_^
If you would like to visit Alchon here in Ewha, you just walk straight from Exit 2 of Edae Station and when you see Olive Young, turn left into the alley and continue to walk straight and Alchon will be on your right side! :) They are opened till 9pm!! :)
They have a self-service bar where you can take as much side dishes as you want haha. But to be honest, I find the kimchi just of so-so standard only :/
Utensils are placed at the side of the table :)
Their Korean menu!! They only have one English menu which is at their doorsteps.
Their Cream Albob (item circled in pink) tastes incredibly awesome I swear!!!
Just to let you know, Albob consists of steamed rice, flying fish roes and vegetables! If you would like to have other flavor, you are able to choose them as well from their menu but price varies though :)
Their English menu!! :)
This is the Cream Albob!! :) If you are coming to Alchon or happen to encounter Alchon during your stay in Korea, please try this dish! It's really very awesome haha
After eating lunch, we went to walk around Ewha University area and went to Ewha POSCO to get some delicious Kimbap!!
This is the kimbap that our buddies highly recommend and there's always long queues for it during lunch times! It only costs 2,500KRW which is really affordable and budget (very good if you've overspent yourself when you're in Korea, like I did >_<)
After having kimbap, we went back to dorm to chill awhile before going out again to meet up with our buddy for some high tea dessert at Sul Bing!!! Sul Bing is a cafe which specially serves Korean Pat Bing Soo a.k.a Snow Ice Flakes!! :D
The cafe is located on the second floor and it was packed with people when we reached there!
Just like in Hollys Coffee, this alarm will beep once your ice flakes is ready to be served! :)
Koreans have a good habit of returning their trays after they've finished the food so that explains the Return counter! :)
Finally our Pat Bing Soo are here!!
Our buddy ordered Sweet Milk with Red Bean Pat Bing Soo as well as their current special berry flavor Pat Bing Soo (sorry forgot the exact name of it >_<)
This one over here tastes super good!! You need to try this if you haven't tried it before!! :)
I'm planning to try their Injeolmi flavor the next time I visit Sulbing again haha
You're supposed to add in the milk if you want your dessert to be sweeter and creamier!! :)
It tastes better when you add into the Red Bean one but it doesn't taste good with the berries one (which we do not know why >_<)
Selfie with our buddy Jinsol!! :)
We head back to school for a little tour at their Ewha Museum (yes they have their own museum haha) and I took the chance to take some photos of the campus from different locations (again) haha!
No photos were allowed in the museum so I couldn't take any!! Sorry!!
We waited till around 5.30pm before we met other buddies and international students to have Ddeokbokki for dinner together!!
Initially I was thinking, Ddeokbokki for dinner? Isn't that suppose to be a snack? But no!! It's not, and it's super delicious too!!
The restaurant is situated underground!!
Our buddies brought us to this place called Santabee in Ewha area where Ddeokbokki is served in a pot with pork and lots of vegetables!! ^_^
Like this!!
You can add cheese to your Ddeokbokki as well to make it even nicer haha
Stir and stir and stir and you will get this:
The lady boss even gave us free dumplings which you can choose whether you want to them to be in the Ddeokbokki or just eat them by itself :)
Voila! Ready to be eaten!! :)
Selfie and group shot before mealtime!! :)
After you've finished the whole pot of Ddeokbokki, according to our buddies, what Koreans normally would do is they will order rice (coming along with seaweed) and have it fried together with the existing sauce that was already in the pot!
It smells extremely good together with the sauce and the lady boss gave us free cheese to be added into the fried rice!! YUMMY!!! :)
Seriously it was a super good meal! haha
Santabee is on the same street as Alchon but you will see Santabee first if you take the route that I have stated in this post previously! :)
After dinner, our buddies brought us around Ewha area to show us around so picture time!!! :D
Random G-Dragon poster that I saw while touring haha <3
After the tour, some of us went off to shopping but me and YX continued on together with our buddies for supper!! They were planning to have some alcohol in a restaurant at Sinchon after having dinner with us and here is the place that we went to for supper (alcohol!!) :
Side dishes: Corn, Kimchi and Seaweed soup!
I finally managed to try 도토리 a.k.a Seasoned Acorn Jelly!!! :) Have been seeing a lot of Korean shows featuring this dish but it's so rarely seen in Singapore!! :) Looks and taste delicious!!! :D:D:D:D:D <3
Shrimp Pancake which is served as a 下酒菜!Taste good as well but I find it too oily for my liking >_<
Now here's the real bomb: Makgeolli 막얼리 :)
This one is in Strawberry flavor and the below one is to be mixed with honey! :)
Our buddies mixing the honey and the Makgeolli!! They look damn excited haha
Ending off with group photos for our Makgeolli session!! :)
The Makgeolli taste AWESOME seriously!! It's supposed to be scooped out of the big bowl into a smaller one and you drink it from the small bowl! It's easy to get yourself drunk by drinking too fast with the bowl though so do be careful! :)
Enjoy the alcohol and the time with your friends slowly if you're planning to have some alcohol while during your stay in Korea ^_^
Sinchon has a lot of places to drink and chill so do check it out if you're planning to have some night activity! *wink*
I love alchon very much <3 Enjoy reading your blog <3
